Pay DA Installment payment before Diwali as per Central Government Policy: Major Singh Saini

PHAGWARA: A crucial meeting of the Punjab PWD Workers’ Union (INTUC) was held at the union’s Phagwara office under the leadership of Jalandhar branch president Major Singh Saini. The union demanded the release the pending DA installment for employees at the 3% rate, in line with the Central Government’s policy, before Diwali.

Sharing details of the meeting, Major Singh Saini emphasized the demand for an increase in the dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners by 19%, as directed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The union also urged the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government to immediately implement this increase.

The union unanimously decided to fully support the protest planned in Mohali on October 22 by government employees and pensioners against the state government. During the meeting, Major Singh Saini also raised the issue of regularizing contractual employees, criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for failing to fulfill the promises made to employees during the elections. He pointed out growing dissatisfaction among employees and pensioners over the unmet commitments.
