Vettaiyaan vs Goat Box Office: Rajini's film is performing much worse than Vijay starrer.

Mumbai Mumbai. Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyaan released on October 10 to much anticipation. It is slowly heading towards disaster at the box office, with the film receiving mixed reviews despite the star-studded cast and direction by TJ Gyanvel of Jai Bheem. In its first week and second weekend, the box office numbers have declined steadily, not painting a good picture for the pan-Indian film, which also stars industry stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati.

In nine days since its release, Vettaiyaan has collected ₹124.75 crore nett across all languages in India. The worrying aspect is that the collections are on a downward trend, which indicates that the film will soon flop. The combined Telugu and Hindi figures for the film have been less than ₹18 crore.

Overseas, Vettaiyan has collected ₹73 crore, taking its worldwide total to ₹218.65 crore in a little over a week. This is despite the film's festival release. The audience is not liking this film and Rajinikanth's star power is its only attraction.

Vettaiyaan vs GOAT Box Office Collection

It looks like Vettaiyaan will fall far short of becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024. Thalapathy Vijay's GOAT will top the box office. In nine days, while Vettaiyaan has failed to cross the ₹125 crore mark, GOAT had grossed over ₹217 crore in India.

GOAT Hindi collection also did well, making a lifetime business of ₹22.5 crore. Vettaiyaan has managed to make an impact in the northern markets, with a modest collection of a little over ₹3 crore. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Rajniknath will have to compensate Lyca Productions for the box office losses incurred by the latest film. Due to Vettaiyan's poor performance, he may sign other projects for the banner at lower fees.
