Mahayuti has destroyed Maharashtra's political culture and democracy, Congress's Jairam Ramesh alleges

New Delhi: Congress's Jairam Ramesh on Saturday made allegations against Mahayuti. Jairam Ramesh accused the 'Mahayuti' government of Maharashtra of destroying the political culture and democratic institutions of the state and claimed that donations from electoral bonds were used to topple the previous Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that due to this case related to donations in Maharashtra, the government treasury has lost more than Rs 10 thousand crores. The ruling grand alliance in Maharashtra includes Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Ramesh posted on “Mahayuti’s formation of government and coming to power is proof of its greed for power and disregard for democratic values.”

Electoral bond donations received wrongly

Jairam Ramesh claimed that such ill-gotten electoral bond donations made possible the open horse-trading of Shiv Sena and NCP MLAs. Ramesh said, “Apart from bribery, Mahayuti has also deployed ED/CBI/Income Tax Department to force MLAs and leaders to join Mahayuti. “This is evidenced by the Mahayuti leaders themselves, like now MP Ravindra Vaikar, who specifically said that when he was in the MVA, he had two options – change political parties or go to jail.”

How much money was spent in bringing down the Mahavikas Aghadi government?

He alleged that 'Mahayuti' has destroyed the political culture and democratic institutions of Maharashtra. Congress General Secretary says, “Now we know that Indian citizens have suffered a loss of Rs 4 lakh crore in the electoral bond scam. We also know that this has caused a loss of at least Rs 10,000 crore to the Maharashtra exchequer. The question is, how much money was spent in toppling the Maha Vikas Aghadi government?”
