The magic of Bollywood casts a shadow on Putin, Russia can discuss promoting Indian cinema in BRICS summit

Moscow: Indian cinema is rapidly gaining popularity worldwide. Bollywood cinema is playing an important role in this. Russia is very fond of many Bollywood films, from Raj Kapoor's Awara and Mithun Chakraborty's Disco Dancer to Shahrukh Khan's Pathan. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday hinted that he may discuss further promotion of Indian films when he meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week.

Actually, Modi is visiting Kazan, Russia for the BRICS summit on 22-23 October. “I think Indian films are more popular in this country than anywhere else,” Putin said while talking to a group of foreign journalists.

In response to a question from news agency PTI, Putin said that there is a special TV channel in Russia which always shows Indian films. But he also called the marketing of Indian films in Russia an issue that needs discussion. Along with this, he also mentioned the Indian pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and automotive sector.

India is focusing on its market

The Russian President said that cinema products and the film industry are part of the economy and should be properly regulated. India has taken many decisions to protect its market. He said through an interpreter that this is not just about the film industry, but also about automotive and other industries.

Putin will talk to Narendra Modi

Putin said that we are confident that if Indian friends are interested in it, we will find common ground to promote Indian films in the Russian market. He described it as a very relevant and popular product in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector as well. He said that he is ready to talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue when he comes to Kazan for the BRICS summit.
