IND vs NZ: Rohit clashed with the umpire during the match, know why?

Team India is now completely on the backfoot in the Bengaluru Test. The Indian team has given New Zealand a target of 107 runs to win. Tom Latham, the New Zealand team chasing the target, had faced only four balls when the umpire announced the end of the day's play. Captain Rohit Sharma did not like this decision of the umpire at all. Rohit looked very angry with the umpire on this decision and a heated argument broke out between them. Along with the captain, Virat Kohli was also seen talking to the umpire.

Rohit looked unhappy with the umpire

Actually, the umpire announced the end of the fourth day's play citing bad light. This decision of the umpire seemed beyond the understanding of captain Rohit Sharma and he expressed his displeasure over it. Rohit's conversation with the umpire continued for a long time. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was also seen explaining something to both the umpires. From Kohli's expression it seemed as if he was not at all happy with this decision.

However, despite lengthy discussion, the umpire stuck to his decision. As soon as the Indian players were moving towards the dressing room, it started raining heavily and Team India's hopes were dashed.

Why is the Indian captain angry?

Chasing the target of 107 runs, New Zealand had the opening pair of Tom Latham and Devon Conway. Jasprit Bumrah bowled the first over for India. Bumrah may have bowled only four balls in his over, but each of his balls was raising questions on the batsman. All four balls that came out of Bumrah's hands were waving in the air and Latham was looking quite uncomfortable. This was the reason why captain Rohit wanted the game to continue for a few more overs, so that Team India could take advantage of the situation and take one or two wickets quickly. However, the umpire and rain did not allow Rohit's wish to be fulfilled.

Team India needs a miracle

Team India will now need a miracle on the fifth day to avoid defeat in the Bengaluru Test. Captain Rohit and the team want the rain to continue throughout the day and the match to end in a draw. In the second innings, Indian batsmen performed strongly and scored 462 runs. However, the Indian team set a target of only 107 runs, eliminating New Zealand's first innings lead of 356 runs.
