Tendulkar praised Bengaluru Test centurions Rachin and Sarfaraz

Former legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has praised Rachin Ravindra and Sarfaraz Khan, who scored centuries in the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

New Zealand batsman Rachin, who hails from Bengaluru, scored his second Test century and helped the visitors post 402 runs in the first innings while bowling out India for 46, their lowest Test score on home soil. He played an innings of 134 runs with the help of 13 fours and four sixes. He also became the first New Zealand batsman to score a Test century in India since 2012.

Sarfaraz, on the other hand, scored his maiden Test century in India's second innings on Saturday, in which he along with Rishabh Pant led the side. The duo put on an unbroken stand of 113 runs for the fourth wicket, before rain halted play in the first session and lunch started early. With Sarfaraz (125 not out) and Pant (53 not out) at the crease, India's score was 344/3 in 71 overs.

Tendulkar wrote on X, “Cricket is a way of connecting us with our roots. Rachin Ravindra has a special connection with Bengaluru, where his family hails from! Another century in his name. He added, “And Sarfaraz Khan, what an opportunity it was to score his maiden Test century, when India needed it most! There are exciting times ahead for these two talented youngsters. ,

Moving on to 70, Sarfaraz brought up his century in spectacular fashion – a backfoot punch off Southee cleared the in-field for four runs – with the right-handed batsman keeping the bat high and his hands up. Picked up and ran. He then took off the helmet, roared and swung the bat brilliantly, before Pant hugged him as the crowd in the stadium stood up to welcome his incredible innings.
