Ishan Kishan likely to make a comeback in India’s scheme of things with this series

Ishan Kishan, who has been dropped from the BCCI’s central contracts earlier this year amid fears that he was ‘putting the Indian Premier League first above domestic cricket’ will be returning to the India A team. Having skippered Jharkhand during a domestic comeback this season, Kishan is expected to play two four-day ‘Tests’ against Australia A and an intra-squad game with the senior team. The two Tests against Australia A will be played on the first dates at McKay from October 31-November 3 and then at MCG from November 7-10.

BCCI is yet to do so- announce the squad but Ruturaj Gaikwad or Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to captain the team.

Considering his form of late, where he has hit four centuries this past four-day season, Abhimanyu might also be flown in as a reserve opener in the senior team with Rohit Sharma being unfit to play in one of the first two Tests due to personal reasons.

Bengal national cricket team will have two representatives in the India A squad, Mukesh Kumar who is a seam bowler and Abhishek Porel who is a keeper batter.

Likely India A squad for tour of Australia: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, B Indrajith, Abishek Porel (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Mukesh Kumar, Ricky Bhui, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Manav Suthar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed, Tanush Kotian, Yash Dayal.

Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan has recently come back to the Jharkhand Ranji team as its captain, having recovered from the controversies that surrounded his last-minute withdrawal from the team which resulted in his exclusion from the BCCI central contract.

The hard-hitting left-hander, who was drafted into the playing eleven of India’s white-ball team after Rishabh Pant suffered a road accident in December 2022, however, did take time off during India’s tour of South Africa. Upon resuming from the break, however, he refrained from playing any official BCCI matches, which was problematic given that the board had emphasized on players focussing on domestic competition in the, off national duty, scenario.
