IMD Cyclone Alert: Cyclonic storm rises in Bay of Bengal, will wreak havoc in these states at a speed of 120 KM

New Delhi. Another cyclonic storm may occur in the Bay of Bengal by 23 October. The Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert on Sunday saying that due to this, there may be heavy rain in the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its special bulletin that a cyclonic circulation over the Andaman Sea may turn into a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. This system is moving west- It will move in northwest direction and may turn into a depression by the morning of October 22 and a cyclonic storm by October 23 over east-central Bay of Bengal.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that after this, it will move towards North-West and by the morning of October 24, it will reach North-West Bay of Bengal, away from the coasts of Odisha-West Bengal. -There is a possibility of reaching West Bay of Bengal). The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that under its influence, there may be heavy rains in the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal from 23 to 25 October. The department has advised fishermen to return to the shore by October 21.

IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that this system can take the form of a severe cyclonic storm. He said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Odisha from October 23. He told a local TV channel that some places in the coastal region may receive 20 cm rainfall on October 24-25. The intensity of rain may be 20 to 30 cm and at some places even more than 30 cm. He said the IMD has not made any predictions on the location and intensity of landfall.

The bulletin said that West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh may also receive light to moderate rain. Strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph are likely to prevail along Odisha-West Bengal coasts from the evening of October 23. From the night of 24th October to the morning of 25th October, its speed may gradually increase to 100-110 kmph and up to 120 kmph. IMD said that the sea condition is likely to remain rough during that time.
