Second version of e-Shram portal will be launched on October 21, 30 crore registrations have been done so far

New Delhi : Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday gave an important information about the e-Shram portal. He has said that the second version of e-Shram portal can be launched on Monday next week. It is noteworthy that this portal is going to be launched with a new upgrade for various welfare schemes.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, the minister said the e-Shram portal will also allow companies offering job information to enroll their workers on the portal. This has been created with the aim of creating a national database of workers in the unorganized sector. He said that registered workers will be able to check their eligibility for various welfare schemes on the portal.

Started on 26th August

The Ministry of Labor and Employment had launched the Ishram portal i.e. Ishram.gov.in on August 26, 2021 to create a comprehensive national database of unorganized sector workers, which was linked to Aadhaar. The objective of Eshram Portal is to register and assist unorganized workers by providing them a Universal Account Number i.e. UAN.

In this, descriptions of workers like name, permanent address, current address, business, educational qualification, skill type etc. are recorded. The e-Shram portal allows registration under 30 broad business sectors and around 400 businesses. It offers multiple methods of registration, including self and assisted registration, to facilitate a smooth process.

More than 30 crore registrations

Self-registration includes registration through e-Shram portal and Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance i.e. UMANG Mobile App. Assisted registration includes registration through Common Service Centers i.e. CSCs and State Service Centers i.e. SSKs. Till date, more than 30 crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal.

Comprehensive National Database

e-Shram Portal is a comprehensive national database of unorganized workers (NDUW) launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Its primary objective is to provide welfare benefits and social security measures to unorganized sector workers across the country.
