RBI Rules: When in need of cash, people go to ATM machine to withdraw money. Sometimes torn notes come out of the machine. Which no one refuses to take. Don't know what to do in such a situation. Don't panic in such a situation. You can easily get the torn note replaced. Just need to be aware of some rules of Reserve Bank of India.

Before loading the notes into the ATM, they are checked by the machines. Therefore the chances of getting dirty and torn notes are less. But despite this, if a person receives torn notes from the machine, then as per RBI rules, he can go to the bank branch of the ATM and get it exchanged.

You will have to go to the bank branch of the ATM machine and give information about the date, place and time of withdrawal of money. While withdrawing cash, the slip from the machine will be required. If you have not issued your receipt then you can show the received message on the mobile number linked to the bank account.

What to do if you refuse to exchange bank notes? (ATM Damaged Notes)

According to the rules, no bank can refuse to exchange notes. If you do so, strict action will be taken against the employee. If there is any defect in the notes dispensed from the ATM, it is the sole responsibility of the bank to investigate the same.
