‘It’s disheartening’: Remo D’Souza breaks silence on Rs 11.96 crore fraud allegations

New Delhi: On October 19, reports accusing Remo D’Souza and his wife Lizelle D’Souza, among seven either individuals, of cheating a dance troupe out of Rs 11.96 crore surfaced. An FIR was filed by a 26-year-old dancer in Maharashtra’s Mira Road alleging that these seven people cheated their dance group of the prize money after winning a reality dance show.

The FIR filed on October 16 claims that Remo D’Souza, Lizelle and five others cheated him and his dance troupe between the years 2018 and July 2024. It is said that the accused individuals posed as if the troupe belonged to them and claimed the prize money of Rs 11.96 crore. Two days after the allegations, Remo D’Souza has finally addressed such claims. Here is what the choreographer had to say.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Remo D’souza penned a response to the accusations against him and his wife Lizelle. He expressed disappointment at the media reports on the case and said, “It is disheartening that such information has been published.” The choreographer further requested the public to not spread rumours before knowing their side of the story.

However, Remo did not reveal his story and simply asked his fans to have patience. He explained that they would be putting their case forward in due time and corporate with the authorities as required. He ended the note with a thank you to his friends and family who have supported them through this difficult time.

For context, in addition to Remo D’Souza and Lizelle D’Souza, the other five accused are – Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Ramesh Gupta, Rohit Jhadhav, Frame Production Company, and policeman Vinod Raut. These individuals have been accused of accused of forgery, cheating, and other relevant provisions under the Indian Penal Code.
