ISL: Jamshedpur FC reaches second place after defeating Hyderabad FC

Mumbai Mumbai. Jamshedpur FC defeated Hyderabad FC 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday. With the win, the Men of Steel moved up to second place in the league table. Rei Tachikawa and Jordan Murray scored for the hosts, while CY Goddard scored a goal for the visitors. The match started strategically, with both teams taking time to assess each other. In the ninth minute, Jamshedpur FC made their first proper attack when Imran Khan sent a brilliant cross into the Hyderabad FC penalty box. However, Mohammed Sanan, a Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) graduate, at whom the ball was aimed, missed by just a yard. In the same minute, Hyderabad FC took their first steps into the game. Ramhulunchunga played a through ball to Cy Goddard, whose cross found Lenny Rodrigues after a deflection by Pratik Chaudhary. However, Rodriguez hit the ball straight into the hands of Albino Gomes.

In the 29th minute, the Men of Steel took their long-awaited lead. Sanan crossed the ball from the left, which fell to Imran Khan after Alex Saji's missed header. His weak shot hit the post, but Tachikawa converted the ball into the goal. Five minutes later, the Japanese midfielder could have scored his second goal of the night, but his powerful shot was successfully blocked by Arshdeep Singh. A minute later, Khalid Jamil's side had another chance, but Sanan's effort was inches off target.

In the 41st minute, Hyderabad FC almost equalised. Goddard played a wonderful pass to Ramhulunchunga, whose curling effort was tipped out by Gomes. Just when Hyderabad FC looked to be gaining momentum, Jordan Murray ended their hopes. In the 44th minute, Sanan perfectly timed the ball to Murray, who calmly headed the ball over the goalkeeper.
