Congress has released the first list of candidates for Jharkhand Assembly elections. Names of candidates have been announced for 21 seats. Ajay Kumar has been given ticket from Jamshedpur East. He has also been the President of Congress in the state. Ticket has been given to Rameshwar Oraon from Lohardaga. Purnima Neeraj Singh from Jharia, Banna Gupta from Jamshedpur West and Jaimangal Singh from Bermo have been given tickets. Congress has given ticket to Irfan Ansari from Jamtara. Whereas, Deepika Pandey Singh has been made the candidate from Mahagama.

In fact, Congress on Monday released the first list of 21 candidates for Jharkhand Assembly elections, in which the names of State Government Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, Congress Working Committee member Ajay Kumar and some other ministers are included. The list was released a few hours after the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting.

Rameshwar Oraon has once again been made a candidate from his current Lohardaga seat. Former Indian Police Service officer Ajay Kumar has been given ticket from Jamshedpur East assembly constituency. Kumar has also been a Lok Sabha member from Jamshedpur.

State Rural Development Minister Irfan Ansari has been fielded again from his current constituency Jamtara, while Health Minister Banna Gupta has been made the candidate from Jamshedpur West. Agriculture Minister Deepika Pandey Singh has once again been made a candidate from Mahagama. He is currently the MLA from this seat.

Before releasing the list, the Congress Central Election Committee in Delhi had held a long discussion on the names of the candidates. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Keshav Mahato and other leaders of Jharkhand attended this meeting. After the meeting, Mir said that 70 percent seats of Congress quota in Jharkhand were discussed.

We will form government again in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that we hope that the alliance will perform better this time in the state than last time. We will again form government in Jharkhand. Let us tell you that voting will be held in two phases in Jharkhand. Voting will be held in the first phase on 13 November and in the second phase on 20 November. The results will come on 23 November.

Congress has declared these candidates amid the ongoing deadlock over seat sharing in the ruling alliance. Congress said on Monday night that the complete picture will be clear on Tuesday i.e. today as to who will contest on how many seats. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress had announced on Saturday that both the parties will contest 70 out of 81 assembly seats in the state and Ghatak’s other allies will contest the remaining seats.

Expressing displeasure over this announcement, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had said on Sunday that less than 12 seats would not be acceptable to it and even if it had to contest alone, it would not harm the prospects of the India alliance. JMM, Congress and RJD are part of the opposition alliance Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India). Voting will be held in Jharkhand in two phases on 13th and 20th November and counting of votes will take place on 23rd November.
