‘It Takes Huge Sacrifice to Win in England’

Ten Hag FWA Northern Managers Awards Speech : Eric Ten Hag recently won the Football Writers Association’s (FWA) Northern Managers Awards for winning the FA Cup last season by defeating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final.

The Dutchman saved his job via an FA Cup win as Manchester United had a terrible run in the Premier League last season. The club finished eighth with 60 points from 38 games. Even this season, the Red Devils are eleventh, winning just 3 out of 8 games and having just 11 points.

‘It Takes Huge Sacrifice to Win in England’: Ten Hag FWA Northern Managers Awards Speech

In the speech given at the award ceremony, Ten Hag talked about the sacrifice that’s required to win titles in a country where football is so competitive.

“I can say as I have some experience, it’s not so easy to win titles, all the levels in English football are very competitive, to win a title demands huge sacrifice, sacrifice with your family but also sacrifice to get the team doing what you want,” Ten Hag said in his speech.

Dutchman also pointed out the importance of good players and coaches to win games.

“You don’t do this alone. You need good players, without good players, any manager is poor. Players can’t do it without coaching so thanks also to my coaches, we did an incredible job to win this FA Cup.”
