Mohammed Shami makes a massive revelation about his comeback and IPL

The Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has recently stated that he would not be averse to the thought of leading a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This, while fans expect news about the players’ recovery on an ankle surgery and the retention and auction updates of the IPL. Meanwhile, Shami wearing a leg brace has fueled further speculation of his association, if any, with Gujarat Titans, the franchise he joined in 2022, and rejoined in 2023.

In a more recent interaction with the sister concern of India Today, which is Sports Today, Shami was heard saying that even though his aspirations in this Year’s IPL might be in limbo, he will not glamorize the idea of taking up a leadership position shikhar sharma biopic. Obviously Shami being an important part of the Gujarat Titans team has struggled with recovery from an injury on his ankle and subsequently could not participate in the IPL 2024 season.

“If one gets the opportunity, I don’t tink many will deny that role. It’s not a lot different, all you need to do is know you team, your teammates and that is gonna do you job,” Shami said.

As part of an impressive IPL run, Shami has also donned the fast bowling duties for different teams such as the Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and more recently for Gujarat Titans in 2022. Practically speaking, however, with this plethora of experience, there are expectations on the fact that Gujarat Titans will probably relieve him of his duties before the much anticipated auction. If that is the case, it is reported that a number of teams will be clamoring to acquire the services of the seasoned fast bowler for IPL 2024.

Shami played a major role in India’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 24 wickets. After the World Cup, he decided to go for ankle surgery and has since been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy under the BCCI medical team.

Now, Shami is not part of the ongoing Test series between India and New Zealand, however, fans are looking forward to his return very soon, and the pacer himself expressed the wish to be part of the tour as well. However, as Shami is currently injured, the conversation has turned to his possible inclusion in the national side for the upcoming Australia tour, particularly the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which many people want to believe will happen given the extent of the pace bowler’s injury.
