Before including milk or curd in children's diet, know which is the healthier option?

New Delhi: Be it milk or curd, both are very beneficial for health. While milk is rich in minerals like vitamin B2, B12, phosphorus, calcium and potassium, curd is rich in protein and vitamin C, as well as calcium for strong bones. Therefore, consuming both milk or curd is extremely beneficial for health.

However, only one of these can be eaten at a time and many children start shrinking their nose and mouth after seeing either milk or curd. In such a situation, this question is often seen in the minds of parents that which is more healthy for children, milk or curd. Let us know whether giving milk or curd to children can be a more healthy option.

According to nutritionists, when the child turns 6 months old, it is better to include curd in his diet. Curd is also very important for children because many types of nutrients are found in curd which are essential for the health of children. Along with this, curd is also a good probiotic food, which keeps the stomach of children healthy.

However, it is important to keep some things in mind while giving curd to children. For example, children should never be given cold curd kept in the refrigerator to eat. Only room temperature curd should always be given. However, including curd in the diet does not mean that one should stop giving milk to children altogether. Be sure to give them milk at the same time.

Compared to milk, curd is a probiotic food which is better for digestion. While excessive consumption of milk can cause digestion related issues, curd can help in improving digestion. Along with this, it also helps in removing stomach infection in small children. Curd also works as an immunity booster. Vitamin C found in it helps in increasing the immunity of the body. According to doctors, children who consume curd regularly have less risk of seasonal diseases and colds.

While deciding whether to give milk or curd to children, it is important to keep some things in mind. If a child is lactose intolerant and his digestive system is very sensitive, then children should be given curd instead of milk. To fulfill the probiotic needs of children, it is right to give them curd. Apart from this, it becomes difficult for children who drink only milk to adopt other diets and they remain limited to milk only. But giving curd opens the taste glands of children, due to which children start eating other food items also.
