Another big blow to Gurmeet Ram Rahim! Now another case will go on, CM Bhagwant Mann approved

The troubles of jailed Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim have increased further. The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has given approval to prosecute the sacrilege incidents of 2015. Recently, the Supreme Court had stopped the stay imposed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the trial against Ram Rahim. After this the Punjab government has given permission to run the case.

If sources are to be believed, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is in charge of the Home Department, has given the green signal to prosecute the case on Monday evening. It is noteworthy that in 2015, cases of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were reported in Faridkot. There was a huge uproar in the name of protest against them. Meanwhile, in October 2015, the police even opened fire on people protesting against sacrilege, in which two people lost their lives in Bahibal Kalan.

These are the three cases

  1. Theft of Guru Granth Sahib beed from the Gurudwara in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village of Faridkot on 1 June 2015.
  2. Putting up objectionable posters against Sikhism on 24 and 25 September 2015 in Bargadi in Faridkot.
  3. On October 12, 2015, parts (pages) of Guru Granth Sahib were stolen in Bargari and were found torn and scattered.

What is the condition of Gurmeet Ram Rahim?

Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently living in Barnawa Ashram in UP. He came out of jail on 2 October. He was brought out of Sunariya jail under tight police security. Ram Rahim was granted parole between the assembly elections. However, opposition parties had raised objection regarding this and also complained to the Election Commission.

In 2017, the court found Ram Rahim guilty in the case of rape of two of his female students and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment. Apart from this, Ram Rahim and three other people have also been convicted by the court for the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.
