BRICS Summit 2024: PM Modi reaches Kazan, Russia, will participate in BRICS Summit

Kazan: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Kazan, Russia. He will attend the 16th BRICS Summit being held here. PM Modi was warmly welcomed upon reaching Kazan. The Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India values ​​close cooperation within BRICS, which has emerged as an important platform for dialogue and discussion on a range of issues related to the global development agenda. Modi said this in a statement before leaving for a two-day visit to the Russian city of Kazan to attend the annual summit of the BRICS group.

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are the main members of BRICS and the grouping represents a quarter of the global economy. The Prime Minister said that the expansion of BRICS with the addition of new members last year has enhanced its inclusiveness and agenda for global betterment. Modi said he was looking forward to wide-ranging discussions on various topics at the summit.

Before leaving for Russia, PM Modi had said that India attaches importance to close cooperation within BRICS which is related to global developmental agenda, multilateralism, climate change, economic cooperation, building resilient supply chains, cultural and people-to-people connectivity etc. Has emerged as an important platform for dialogue and discussion on issues.
