Wayanad Bypolls: Priyanka Gandhi leaves for Wayanad with brother Rahul, will file nomination tomorrow

New Delhi : Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi along with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left for Wayanad, Kerala from Delhi Airport on Tuesday, October 22. Let us tell you that party candidate Priyanka Gandhi will file her nomination papers for Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election on Wednesday in the presence of CPP President Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, expressing confidence in Priyanka Gandhi's candidature, Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that she will emerge as a passionate advocate of the needs of Wayanad and a powerful voice in Parliament. “The people of Wayanad have a special place in my heart, and I can't imagine any better representative for them than my sister Priyanka Gandhi. I am confident that she will be a passionate advocate for the needs of Wayanad and a powerful voice in Parliament.”

Earlier last Monday, Priyanka Gandhi met Kharge in Delhi to discuss campaign strategies as she prepares to file nomination for the by-election in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Vadra, along with Rahul Gandhi, will lead a road show from Kalpetta New Bus Stand in Wayanad in the morning ahead of filing nominations on Wednesday. After the by-election was announced by the Election Commission, Congress announced Gandhi's candidature for the Wayanad seat as part of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala.

Senior Congress leaders will also be present when Gandhi files his nomination before the District Collector in the afternoon. After being active in politics for five years, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Priyanka Gandhi will make her electoral debut in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, where by-elections are scheduled on November 13. Along with this, the Election Commission announced by-elections on 47 assembly seats in 15 states.

If Priyanka Gandhi wins from Wayanad, she will be the third woman from the Gandhi family to enter Parliament. Before Rahul Gandhi retained Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh and vacated the Wayanad seat, Haridas has been a Kozhikode corporation councilor twice. Rahul Gandhi had said that two MPs each will win from Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats and also expressed confidence of Priyanka Gandhi winning from Wayanad.

Before joining active politics, Priyanka Gandhi was responsible for looking after the Gandhi family strongholds in Amethi and Rae Bareli, where she emerged as a key strategist for her party. Meanwhile, Congress appointed Saral Patel as media coordinator for Wayanad with immediate effect ahead of the by-elections.
