The Meteorological Department says that the cyclone named Dana is going to cross the coast between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal by the morning of October 25. The Meteorological Department estimates that by the morning of October 24, severe cyclone Dana will form in the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has also said that cyclone Dana will cause a storm of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour while crossing the area between Odisha and Sagardweep in Bengal. The cyclone named Dana is currently moving towards west-north-west.

The Meteorological Department has already informed the Odisha government that the impact of Cyclone Dana will be maximum in Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Angul, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. In such a situation, the Odisha government has ordered the closure of schools here. At the same time, holiday has been announced in schools of 7 districts of West Bengal. The Odisha government has started evacuating 10 lakh people from 3000 villages in the districts affected by Cyclone Dana. The central government has sent hundreds of NDRF personnel to Odisha to rescue people from Cyclone Dana. These NDRF soldiers have reached Odisha with 25 tonnes of relief material.

Due to cyclone Dana, high waves will arise in the Bay of Bengal adjoining Odisha and West Bengal. In such a situation, the Meteorological Department has asked fishermen not to go into the sea. Also, all the fishermen who have gone to sea have already been advised to return. The governments of Odisha and West Bengal have asked the administration of the districts affected by Cyclone Dana to make every possible effort to save the lives of the common people and their property.
