Big decision of British Airways amid tension, all flights to Israel canceled till March 2025
New Delhi : British Airways on Monday suspended flights to Tel Aviv until the end of March next year due to rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. A British Airways spokesperson said in a statement that this would provide peace of mind to customers and the company is advising customers to contact them to inform them about other options, including refunds.
The British airline recently joined a growing number of foreign airlines that have extended the suspension of flights to Israel. Last week, budget airline Wizz Air announced it would cancel all flights to and from Israel until January 15, and Delta Air Lines announced it would cancel all flights to Israel until at least the end of March. British Airways' decision amid tension
Foreign airlines have repeatedly canceled flights to Israel in the past year amid the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, tensions with Hezbollah and two rocket attacks on Iran. The cancellation of flights has become especially common in the months since Israel has stepped up its response to Hezbollah's almost daily rocket and drone attacks, including another attack in central Israel and Israel. Iran fired about 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, forcing Israel to close its airspace for several hours.
Israeli airspace has been closed
Air Europa, Air France, Ryanair and ITA Airways will update their flights to Israel next week. Iberia, Bulgaria, Air Baltic, Lufthansa Group and LOT may also join next week. Israeli airlines El Al, Arkia and Israel continued to fly throughout the war, canceling flights only when Ben Gurion Airport or Israeli airspace was closed.
