Rishabh Pant has gone past his teammate Virat Kohli in the ICC Test Rankings for Batters. The southpaw is in the sixth spot in the updated list. He returned to Test cricket after a long time due to his car accident.
In the most recent game against New Zealand in Bengaluru, Pant scored 20 and 99. His batting display helped him to move up by three places, taking him ahead of legendary batter Virat, who is now in the 8th spot.
Joe Root continues to lead the rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal has reached fourth place. Jaiswal, Pant, and Kohli are the only Indian batters in the top 10. Ben Duckett, who scored a hundred in the first innings of the second Test against Pakistan, has gained three places to rank 11th.
Pakistan’s Salman Agha, who amassed 31 and 63 in the second Test against the Ollie Pope-led team, climbed eight spots to rank 14th. He is the highest-ranked Pakistan batter, with Babar Azam (19th), Mohammad Rizwan (21st), and Saud Shakeel (27th) falling behind.
Rachin Ravindra managed 134 and 39* against India in the opening Test, and he has now reached the 18th rank, making a jump of 36 places. Devon Conway, who accumulated 91 runs in the first innings against Rohit Sharma’s team, rose 12 places to reach 36th rank. With an eight-wicket haul in the Bengaluru game, Matt Henry is now ranked ninth in the bowlers ranking in the most extended format.
Pakistan spinner Noman Ali rose to 17th place after taking 11 wickets in the second Test against England. Sajid Ali, who was named the Player of the Match, leaped 22 places to settle down at 50th rank.
