Mumbai : The trend of decline in the domestic stock market continues for the third day since the beginning of the week. BSE Sensex has lost more than 138 points in today's trading. Let us tell you that capital withdrawal by foreign institutional investors is continuing, due to which there has been a decline in the shares of motor, medical and capital goods companies.
In today's trading, BSE Sensex closed at 80,081.98 points, down 138.74 points or 0.17 percent. During trading, the Sensex had fallen below 80,000 to 79,891.68 points. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 22 were in loss. National Stock Exchange's Nifty also closed at 24,435.50 points with a decline of 36.60 points or 0.15 percent.

These companies suffered losses
Among the 30 Sensex stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Power Grid, NTPC, Adani Ports, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank and Titan were major losers. On the other hand, after the release of Bajaj Finance's second quarter financial results, the company's shares have increased by about 5 percent. The company's consolidated net profit rose 13 percent to Rs 4,014 crore in the second quarter ended September 2024. Other gainers included Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, HDFC Bank, HCL Technologies and Bajaj Finserv.

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 3,978.61 crore on Tuesday while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 5,869.06 crore.

Geojit Financial Services Ltd. Vinod Nair, head of research, said, “Market sentiments were affected due to weak quarterly results of companies and continued withdrawal of FIIs. However, buying was seen after the recent fall in the shares of medium and small companies. However, there is uncertainty about whether this situation will continue further.” Nair said, “The reward on 10-year bonds has increased in America. “This has reduced expectations about a rapid cut in the policy rate by the Federal Reserve.”
Asian market situation
In other markets of Asia, South Korea's Kospi, China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were in profit while Japan's Nikkei was in loss. There was a mixed trend in European markets in afternoon trading. US markets closed with a stable trend on Tuesday. The price of global oil standard Brent crude fell by 0.97 percent to $ 75.30 per barrel.
