Israeli–Iraqi conflict: Iraqi militia claims five drone attacks on Israeli targets

Israeli–Iraqi conflict : Iraqi militia groups have intensified their attacks on Israel. A Shia militia group claimed responsibility for five drone attacks on key Israeli targets on Wednesday, destroying Israeli sites. According to reports, the group's fighters carried out two drone strikes in the southern Israeli port city of Eilat, two other strikes in the occupied Golan Heights in northern Israel and a drone strike on a site in Israel.

According to reports, the group said the strikes were carried out “in solidarity with our people in Palestine and Lebanon”, vowing to “continue to rapidly target enemy strongholds”. It did not provide further details about the targeted sites or report any casualties.

Since the start of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Islamic resistance in Iraq has repeatedly attacked Israeli and US targets in the region to show support for the Palestinians in Gaza. The militias have stepped up their attacks on Israel after Israel stepped up attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon on September 23.
