Mehdi Hasan Miraz made a unique record against South Africa, became the third cricketer in the world to do so
Bangladesh vs South Africa 1st Test: Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz made a special record in the second innings of the first Test match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Mehdi, who came to bat at number seven, scored fifty plus and during this innings he also completed his 500 runs in the current cycle of the World Test Championship.
Let us tell you that in the World Test Championship 2023-25 so far, Mehdi has taken 34 wickets in 16 innings of 9 Tests and has scored more than 500 runs (till the time of writing the news). He has become the first player from Bangladesh and the third player in the world to score 500 or more runs and take 30 or more wickets in a single cycle of the World Test Championship.
Earlier only Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja had achieved this feat. Stokes scored 1334 runs and took 34 wickets in the World Test Championship 2019-2021 cycle. After this, Stokes scored 971 runs and took 30 wickets in the 2021-23 cycle. Whereas Ravindra Jadeja had scored 721 runs and taken 47 wickets in the 2021-23 cycle.
When Mehdi came to bat, Bangladesh's score was 106 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. He then made a brilliant partnership of 138 runs with debutant Zaker Ali (58 runs) and gave the team the lead.
Let us tell you that in this match, after winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh team was all out for 106 runs in the first innings. In response, South Africa scored 308 runs and took a huge lead of 202 runs in the first innings.
