The seven-year dispute between Bollywood actor Govinda and his comedian nephew Krushna Abhishek has ended. Following Govinda’s recent hospitalization following an unintentional shooting incident, the reconciliation took place. Krushna went to see his uncle to see how he was doing after coming back to India.
He mentioned in conversation with Etimes, “We’ve finally buried the hatchet and moved on”.
Govinda was admitted to the hospital earlier this month after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Krushna was on tour in Australia when his wife, Kashmera Shah, paid Govinda a visit in the hospital.
After returning, he went to see him at his home and acknowledged that it felt like he had finished half a vanvaas (exile). Krushna revealed that it was an emotional experience for him to meet Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja, when he hugged her as a mark of bond and embracement.
Stating about the reunion, he said, “We laughed, joked, and reminisced about old times. It felt just like before. All those years I spent living with mama and mami (Sunita) in their home flashed before my eyes. Maine mama ko bola ki hall toh poora badal gaya hai. Ab sab issues resolve ho gaye hai, sab gile shikve door ho gaye hain (I told him the hall has changed completely. Everything has been resolve and there are no grudges). I am glad there was no mention of the past and that’s how families are. There can be misunderstandings, but nothing can keep us apart for long. I couldn’t meet mami as she was busy, but honestly, I was a bit scared to face her because I knew she would scold me”.
He affirmed, “I’m glad we’ve finally buried the hatchet and moved on. Now I’ll keep visiting, and I’ll also meet mami (aunt).”
Long-standing familial dispute
The feud between Govinda and Krushna began when Govinda complained that Krushna was making jokes about his characters on TV. Sunita Ahuja, Govinda’s wife, also cut ties with Krushna and his family. Over the years, their public arguments have kept the media ablaze, with Krushna accusing Govinda of failing to see his hospitalized children and Govinda calling his nephew a liar.
