Bangladesh: Yunus government banned this student organization, they were involved in violent attacks during the movement, Sheikh Hasina’s blood will boil after hearing this

 The interim government of Bangladesh on Wednesday (October 23, 2024) has banned the student organization of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The interim government has given this decision citing the student organization’s involvement in violent attacks on student protests. Due to which Sheikh Hasina’s government had to be ousted from power in August. Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh in August, ending her 15-year rule. After his departure the mob vandalized the Gana Bhavan. She wanted to record a farewell speech, but the crowd of protesters was rapidly moving towards Gana Bhavan, so the army gave her 45 minutes to pack her belongings and leave Bangladesh to save her life.

Official statement released

“The Bangladesh government has banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of Bangladesh Awami League, under the Anti-Terrorism Act,” news agency AFP reported, quoting an official statement. According to a government notification, the Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League, has faced several allegations during the last three terms of the party. These include allegations of “murder, harassment, torture and various other activities threatening public safety”. The notice mentioned that the Chhatra League has been banned with immediate effect as per the provisions of the 2009 anti-terrorism law. .

Continuous action is being taken against Hasina

Protests that began peacefully in July against Hasina’s government turned violent when Chhatra League members attacked student protesters on university campuses. Attempts by pro-government groups to quell the protests further increased public anger, leading to Hasina’s removal from office a few weeks later. Authorities estimated that more than 700 people were killed, most of them in clashes between police and anti-Hasina protesters.

This month, a Bangladeshi court issued an arrest warrant for Hasina, who fled to India the day she was ousted. After the fall of Hasina’s government, dozens of her associates were detained, accused of being involved in the police action. Former ministers and senior Awami League members have been arrested, and their appointees have been removed from the courts and the central bank.
