Talks made between Air India and Singapore Airlines, ready for codeshare contract

Singapore : 2 major airlines companies of aviation sector have decided to enter into an agreement. Let us inform you that Air India and Singapore Airlines i.e. SIA have given approval to extend their 'codeshare' contract. Under this deal, both these companies will add 11 Indian cities and 40 other international destinations to their network.

This is the first major expansion of 'codeshare' arrangements between aviation companies since 2010. This will provide customers with better travel options between Singapore and India as well as other locations. 'Codeshare' agreements allow airlines to provide service to their customers on each other's flights.

From October 27 this year, Air India and SIA will 'codeshare' on each other's flights between Singapore and Indian cities, taking their total number of weekly services between the two countries from 14 to 56. Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Agarwal on Wednesday said the contract extension will provide passengers with more choices and expanded global connectivity. He said, “Air India and Singapore Airlines have been partners for a long time. “With this expanded scope of our ‘codeshare’ agreement, we are excited to provide our guests with better connectivity to destinations in South East Asia, the Far East and Australasia.”

Singapore Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin said the expansion of the codeshare system reflects the strong collaborative spirit between the two aviation companies. “This reflects our commitment to meet the high demand for air travel between India and Singapore and other destinations and contribute to the growth of both aviation markets,” he said. “Adding Air India’s domestic network to our ‘codeshare’ arrangement will provide better connectivity and convenience to our customers in India, a key market for the SIA Group.”
