Global Super League: Amazon Warriors, Qalandars, Hampshire, Rangpur and Victoria will participate

New Delhi, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). In the opening match of the Global Super League, Caribbean Premier League team Guyana Amazon Warriors will face Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars.

The five-team T20 competition will also include Hampshire Hawks (T20 Blast), Rangpur Riders (BPL) and Victoria (Australia state team). Eleven matches, including the final, will be played over several days, starting on 26 November, with each team playing each other once, with the top two teams then advancing to the final on 7 December.

Every year different teams from all over the world will participate in this annual event. The venue for all games will be Providence, Guyana.

Giles White, director of men's cricket at Hampshire, said the league reflects Guyana's “ambition to become a global sporting destination”.

“International club competition has proven itself successful in other sports and has been lacking in cricket for some time,” he said. It is sanctioned by Cricket West Indies (CWI) and “fully supported” by the Government of Guyana, which is a “key stakeholder” in the competition, and has a prize fund of US$1 million.”

West Indies will play two Test matches against Bangladesh at home between 22 November and 4 December. There could be availability issues for the Warriors after this match, whose roster includes Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Moti and Kevin Sinclair, who are also part of the West Indies' Test set-up. Rangpur Riders may also be directly affected by this match due to the possibility of Hasan Mahmood playing for Bangladesh.

With Pakistan scheduled to tour South Africa for an all-format tour starting with T20Is on December 10, Babar Azam, who played six matches for Rangpur in BPL 2024, and Shaheen Afridi, the Qalandars captain, Availability is also in doubt. The league will also compete with the Abu Dhabi T10, which will be held from November 21 to December 2.
