If you reach the railway station to drop passengers, you may have to pay a fine. Due to crowd during festivals, Railways has banned the sale of platforms.
Platform tickets will be issued for elderly and disabled women to board the train, the duration of which will be only two hours. There will be a ban on the sale of platform tickets till November 6. If caught, the Railways will charge a fine.
Platform ticket will not be available
This decision has been taken in view of security. During Diwali, Govardhan, Bhaiya Dooj and Chhath Puja, the crowd of passengers and those coming to drop them increases on the platform. To avoid any untoward incident, the sale of platform tickets will be stopped from October 26 to November 6.
How much will be the fine if caught?
According to railway officials, if caught without a platform ticket, a total fine of Rs 250 and Rs 10 platform ticket fee including Rs 260 will be charged. TT checking will be done on all platforms of the railway station. RPF claims that the crowd in the railway station will start increasing from October 28. There are also preparations to run a special train for Diwali.
mobile thief caught
GRP has caught a mobile thief during checking on Wednesday. Inspector in-charge Anuj Malik said that the accused Sunny Sonkar had been stealing mobiles and luggage of passengers in trains for the last several months. A mobile phone has been recovered from his possession. He has been caught and sent to jail.
There will be real time monitoring of stations for crowd management.
Northern Railway General Manager Ashok Kumar Verma reviewed the work progress with the heads of departments and divisional railway managers at Baroda House. He said that in view of the festive season, Northern Railway is fully prepared to provide convenient travel experience to its passengers.
Additional coaches added to trains
About 3050 trips of special trains will be operated this year, which is 181 percent more than last year. Additional coaches are also being added to regular trains. He stressed on crowd control measures at major stations, increased staff deployment, real time monitoring and emergency response system.
He asked to intensify the cleanliness and sanitation campaign. Under this, there will be continuous spraying of disinfectant in the station premises, cleaning of toilets and waiting areas and proper waste management.
He reviewed the work being done to remove bottlenecks, eliminate level crossings, doubling, electrification, construction of ROBs and RUBs to increase the speed of trains. He also advised maintaining adequate stock of materials required for repair and maintenance of assets along with timely disposal of scrap.
