Cyclonic storm “Dana” will hit Odisha coast late night, 552 trains, 300 flights cancelled..

Heavy rain with strong wind in Bhadrak and Digha, impact of storm on 7 states

Bhubaneswar. Cyclonic Storm Dana: The effects of cyclonic storm Dana have started becoming visible. Heavy rains are occurring in the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal. The storm coming from the Bay of Bengal will hit Odisha later. The meteorological department has issued an alert. This storm will affect 7 states. 300 flights and 552 trains have been canceled from Kolkata and Odisha in West Bengal in 16 hours.

Around 300 flights were canceled at Bhubaneswar and Kolkata airports in 16 hours from 5 pm on Thursday to 9 am on October 25. Whereas South East Railway has canceled 150 trains, East Coast Railway has canceled 198 trains, Eastern Railway has canceled 190 trains and South East Central Railway has canceled 14 trains. A total of 552 trains have been cancelled.

It is raining heavily in Bhadrak of Odisha and Digha district of Bengal. The winds here are blowing at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. High waves of the sea are rising in Puri. According to the Meteorological Department (Cyclonic Storm Dana), storm Dana will hit the coast of Odisha around 2 pm. The effect of which will be seen in West Bengal.

Meteorological Department expressed the possibility

  • The storm will land near Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port in Odisha.
  • According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the landfall process will last for 5 hours.
  • The storm will pass through the northern part of Odisha at a speed of 120 km per hour.
  • There may be 20 cm rainfall in coastal areas.
  • Some places including Bhadrak, Kendrapara may receive more than 30 cm i.e. 12 inches (one foot) of rain.
  • 10 lakh people have been shifted to 14 districts of Odisha.
  • According to the released map, the cyclone will hit the coast of Odisha. Due to this effect, there will be heavy rain in West Bengal also.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Has held a high level meeting regarding Cyclonic Storm Dana. All including schools, government offices, tourism parks have been closed till October 25. The administration including NDR and rescue teams have made complete preparations to deal with the storm.
