Smriti captain in place of Harman
Regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur is not playing in the first ODI against New Zealand. In his place, the reins of captaincy are in the hands of Smriti Mandhana. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Team India’s opening pair has disappointed here too. India’s opening pair is broken due to Smriti Mandhana being out after scoring 5 runs. This is the first international match in which the Indian team is seen playing after being out of the group stage in the Women’s T20 World Cup.
New Zealand is the Women’s T20 World Cup champion
