New Delhi, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). The domestic stock market today closed marginally lower after trading in a tight range throughout the day after facing strong fluctuations in the early hours. Today’s trading had a mixed start at a flat level. There were strong fluctuations during the first hour after the market opened, but after that the stock market started trading in a limited range as the level of buying and selling became almost equal. After the day’s trading, Sensex closed with a fall of 0.02 percent and Nifty with a fall of 0.15 percent.

In today’s trading, there was buying in shares of public sector enterprise, banking and pharmaceutical sectors. Similarly, Capital Goods and Oil and Gas indices also closed with strength. On the other hand, there was heavy selling in FMCG, automobile and realty sector stocks. Apart from this, consumer durable, metal and tech indices also closed with a decline. There was continuous selling in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a decline of 0.13 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today’s trading with a weakness of 0.72 percent.

Today, due to the selling of midcap and smallcap shares in the stock market, the wealth of stock market investors reduced by more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 443.98 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trading. Whereas on the last trading day i.e. Wednesday, their market capitalization was Rs 445.31 lakh crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 1.33 lakh crore from today’s trading.

Today, there was active trading in 4,033 shares in BSE in the day’s trading. Of these, 1,587 shares closed with gains, while 2,345 shares closed with a decline, while 101 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,499 shares in NSE today. Of these, 892 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,607 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 18 shares closed with gains and 12 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of 50 shares included in Nifty, 24 shares closed in green mark and 26 shares closed in red mark.

BSE Sensex opened today with a slight gain of 16.32 points at the level of 80,098.30 points. As soon as trading started, this index gained 177.84 points to reach 80,259.82 points with the support of buying. However, due to selling pressure after this, within a short time this index fell by more than 440 points from the upper level and fell to today’s lowest level of 79,813.02 points with a weakness of 268.96 points. After this, the buyers once again exerted pressure, due to which the index recovered and reached the green mark in the first hour of trading, but after this, a tussle started in the market between foreign institutional investors (FII) and domestic institutional investors (DII). While FIIs kept selling heavily, domestic institutional investors kept trying to support the market by buying continuously. The index traded with minor fluctuations throughout the day due to restrained buying by domestic institutional investors in response to aggressive selling by foreign institutional investors. After the day’s buying and selling, the Sensex closed at 80,065.16 points with a nominal fall of 16.82 points.

Unlike Sensex, NSE’s Nifty started trading today at 24,412.70 points with a weakness of 22.80 points. As soon as the market opened, with the support of buying, this index reached 24,480.65 points with a strength of 45.15 points, but after this, due to selling pressure, within a short time this index fell to 24,341.20 points with a weakness of 94.30 points. However, after this fall, buyers once again put pressure on, due to which this index was successful in making a place in the green mark around 10 am. After this, the market continued to trade in a limited range with minor fluctuations throughout the day. After the entire day’s trading, Nifty closed at 24,399.40 points with a weakness of 36.10 points.

After buying and selling throughout the day, today’s top 5 gainers were UltraTech Cement, Shriram Finance by 2.70 percent, Shriram Finance by 1.48 percent, Titan Company by 1.29 percent, Grasim Industries by 1.27 percent and Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.18 percent. Joined the list. On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever joined the list of today’s top 5 losers with a fall of 5.80 percent, SBI Life Insurance 4.70 percent, Hindalco Industries 3.68 percent, Nestle 2.94 percent and Bajaj Auto 2.68 percent.
