Recipe News Desk!!! Semolina Halwa is a popular sweet of Indian cuisine, which is made on every special occasion. But nowadays the demand for health conscious sugar free sweets is increasing. Ingredients: Following ingredients will be required to make Halwa
- 1 cup semolina (rava)
- 2-3 spoons ghee
- 1/2 cup jaggery or unsweetened (like stevia)
- 2-3 green cardamoms (peeled)
- 8-10 cashews, almonds and raisins (for garnish)
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup milk (optional)
recipe:
- First of all, heat ghee in a pan. – Add semolina and fry on low flame until it becomes light golden. To enhance the taste of halwa, it is very important to roast semolina properly. When the semolina starts giving off a slight aroma and its color changes, keep it aside.
- Now boil 2 cups water (or 1 cup water and 1 cup milk) in another pan. Add jaggery or sugar free option and ground cardamom. Boil it until the jaggery or stevia dissolves completely. Milk can be used to make halwa even more nutritious and creamy.
- Slowly add boiled water (or milk-water mixture) to the roasted semolina and keep stirring continuously so that lumps do not form. Let it cook on low flame. Gradually the semolina will absorb all the water and the halwa will start becoming thick.
- When the pudding becomes thick, add cashews, almonds and raisins to it. Dry fruits not only enhance the taste of halwa but also make it more nutritious. Cook for 2-3 more minutes so that the flavor of the fruits gets absorbed into the halwa.
- Now sugar free semolina halwa is ready. Serve it hot and garnish with fruits of your choice. This halwa not only tastes amazing but is also an ideal option for those who avoid sugar.
- Sugar free semolina halwa is not only delicious but is also beneficial for health. It makes balanced use of semolina, which is a good carbohydrate source, and ghee. Using sugar-free alternatives like jaggery or stevia makes it healthier, especially for those who suffer from diabetes or want to reduce sugar intake.
