New Delhi, October 24 (IANS). After hard work, Washington Sundar got a chance in Test cricket and he took full advantage of it and cemented his place in the team. In the second test match against New Zealand, he wreaked havoc on the visiting team with his lethal bowling.

Washington Sundar took his first wicket in Test by dismissing Rachin Ravindra. After this he took a flurry of wickets. Washington Sundar, playing a Test match after a gap of more than three years, took seven wickets for 59 runs in 23.1 overs. In this way, for the first time in Test cricket, he achieved the feat of taking five or more wickets in an innings. Earlier, Sundar's best was 3/89.

Regarding the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the series with Bangladesh and now with New Zealand is important for Team India. It is being told that soon the team selectors can announce the team for the Australian tour. Sundar was included in the team before the Pune Test and his excellent performance must have caught the attention of the selectors. In such a situation, he can be included in the team for this tour.

On the first day of the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand, Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly and took seven wickets. Due to his brilliant performance, the Indian team managed to bowl out New Zealand at a score of 259. In response to this score of New Zealand, India lost the wicket of its captain Rohit Sharma early and by the end of the day's play, the team's score was 16 runs at the loss of one wicket.

Team India, desperate to make a comeback after losing the Bengaluru Test, gave a strong performance on the very first day of the Pune Test. This is the first time in Indian Test history that both the off-spinners of the team have taken all 10 wickets. New Zealand won the toss in the morning and decided to bat first. Till lunch, New Zealand had scored 92 runs losing two wickets. In the second session, the visiting team lost three wickets and its score reached 201 but in the third session its innings got reduced. At the time of stumps, Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 6 runs and Shubhman Gill was unbeaten on 10 runs. India is currently 243 runs behind New Zealand's score.
