Dog brutally killed by its owner in Pune, Maharashtra

A disturbing case of cruelty against animals has come to light from Pune, Maharashtra. A dog was brutally killed by its owner in Pirangut area here. This news has come to light through social media platform Instagram. According to a post, a person named Omkar Jagtap brutally beat his pet dog. Later the man hanged him, resulting in his death. The incident was shared by StreetDogsBombay on Allen's Instagram post. It is a foundation that works for animal rights. Earlier, a similar incident had come to light in Pune. An NGO here had allegedly burnt a puppy alive.

The foundation revealed that before the incident, they had received a phone call from someone informing them that the dog was in danger to its life if they did not take it from the family. However, before help could arrive the dog was found hanging from a tree. After the news came out, there is anger among the people about it. People are demanding justice for the innocent pet dog. However, there is no report of legal action being taken in this matter so far.

After pictures of the incident went viral on social media, Shiv Sena UBT leader Aditya Thackeray also took cognizance of the matter. He has demanded strict action from Pune Police against the criminals. Former minister Aditya Thackeray wrote in the post on X, “I just saw a very disturbing picture of a dog being hanged by its owner's family in Pune. I am amazed to see how humans can behave like this. Apart from elections and other stress of duty, I appeal to Pune Police to take strict action against the culprits in this case. This is inhuman. “Pets are also family members.”
