Following a brief stint at Mckinsey, Isha Ambani, the daughter of billionaire, Mukesh Ambani, joined the family business empire and currently heads Reliance Retail, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries.

Isha Ambani, the daughter of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani– Asia’s richest man– is regarded as one of the most promising young business leaders in the country today. But not many would be aware that Isha’s first job was not with her father’s conglomerate, in fact prior to joining Reliance, she briefly worked as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company, a US-based multinational strategy and management consulting firm that offers professional services to corporations, governments, and other organizations.

Isha Ambani’s stint at Mckinsey

After graduating in psychology and South Asian studies from the prestigious Yale University in 2013, Isha Ambani, then 22, joined Mckinsey & Company as a business analyst in 2014, which was seen by business insiders as a move to groom her for a future role at Reliance, a prediction which was fulfilled when she joined her father’s company.

Following a brief stint at Mckinsey, Isha Ambani joined the family business empire and currently heads Reliance Retail, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries.

Apart from serving as the Managing Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, Isha Ambani, 32, is also on the board of directors of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures Limited.

Isha Ambani runs Reliance Retail, a retail marketer which is a partner brand of major international brands such as Versace, Amiri, Armani, and Balenciaga, bringing reputed international brands, into the Indian market.

Under Isha’s leadership, Reliance Retail, which has an estimated value of around Rs 8.3 lakh crores, has witnessed exponential growth in a short period of time, opening 3,300 stores across the country in 2023.

Recently, the young businesswoman, who is credited with the rapid expansion of Reliance Retail, including its e-commerce business Ajio and beauty platform Tira, was named the ‘Icon of the Year’ at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024.

An accomplished pianist, Isha Ambani came under the spotlight as a 16-year-old  when she named as the world’s second youngest billionaire heiress by Forbes.

Besides earning a Bachelors degree from a Yale, Isha also has an MBA from the Stanford University in California, United States.
