Dior’s new skincare line will have you aging like fine wine.

The luxury house dropped their latest, and most expensive, skincare line: Dior L'Or de Viewith wine-infused products.

And it turns out wine isn’t just for drinking — there are benefits of putting it on your face.

Unbeknown to some, wine byproducts have been used in the skincare industry for decades, whether it be products such as wine-powered masks and peels or entire lines like Caudalie's Vinopur.

A study published in the journal Cosmetics by MDPI found that wine byproducts such as grape pomace extracts contain high bioactive molecules and polyphenols content, which has several health benefits for the skin such as anti-aging, skin depigmenting and photoprotection.

Dior L’Or de Vie, “the most exclusive Dior skincare collection,” is formulated using byproducts from LVMH’s private Sauternes vineyard, Château d’Yquem.

The grapes on the vineyard benefit from a special kind of fungus known as “noble rot,” which gives the wines their signature test and acts as a key ingredient in the skincare line, which was reformulated for the first time since its creation in 2006.

The L’Or de Vie collection includes five products, including a serum ($1,700), eye and lip contour cream ($850), day cream ($1,700), night cream ($1,700) and lotion ($680). Prices begin at $350 for a special white jade massage tool duo for anti-aging skincare. The most expensive is the $3,200 L’Or de Vie Le Cérémonial Vintage 2023a trio of products that provides an “intensive one-month visible rejuvenation treatment.”

All products are anti-aging and have been reinvented with the luxury house’s “new longevity secret”: The Protein of Life, which the brand says is discovered in the heart of the vineyard and infused into the formulas to “help restore skin texture and youthful appearance.”

The protein occurs naturally in Yquem active ingredients, which allows the new formulas to be twice as concentrated.

Dior used their “Golden Drop Longevity Technology” in the newly formulated products, combining two Yquem active ingredients: Golden Sap and Golden Ferment.

“After 30 years of research, Dior’s most exclusive line bestows on the skin the gift of longevity, helping to correct the signs of time. An extraordinary power is rooted in the quest for Reverse Aging,” according to the company.

“By moving beyond simply correcting the signs of age, L’Or de Vie seems to reverse the signs of aging and rejuvenate skin. Refreshed and revitalized by the key ingredients of the Golden Drop Longevity Technology, skin youth markers return to a state of that of a 25-year-old skin.”

Dior said the technology promises immediate results after just one application, including a 30% increase in collagen production, as well as a boost of radiance, softness and firmness.

And if you’re looking for exclusivity with your luxury serum, the 2023 L'Or de Vie Le Ceremonial Vintage pack is a limited-edition serum ritual that’s only released annually.

The vintage pack is a one-month treatment that promises to “activate, rebuild and restore the visible youthfulness of the skin.”

Additionally, a special Prestige Edition L’Or de Vie La Creme jar be launch later this fall and is only available for five customers, according to Dior, with a price by request only.

The rare jar is made of hand-blown Murano glass, created in collaboration with French artist Aristide Najean. The piece is made to pay tribute to the Golden Grape of Yquem, “a jewel of nature.”

Each of the five individual pieces were created one by one, hand-blown and hand-crafted in Najean’s Murano studio, La Cathédrale, according to a press release.

The glass sculpture has a slightly curved glass base with a glass bunch of Yquem Golden Grapes draped around it, made to look “freshly picked,” with touches of 24-carat gold illuminating through the transparency.
