Diwali i.e. Deepawali festival is also one of these festivals which is celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month. Where people prepare for Diwali a month in advance, from cleaning to cooking. Whereas this festival lasts for 5 days, but there is a place in Madhya Pradesh where the festival of Diwali is celebrated for two months.

Tribal areas follow this tradition

Here the festival of Diwali is celebrated in a special way by the tribal community of Dahi region of Madhya Pradesh. According to the old tradition, people of 62 tribal dominated villages celebrate this festival not only for 5 days but for the entire two months. This tradition is related to the agricultural sector where farmers celebrate the festival of Diwali after finishing their work. To celebrate Diwali here, the village head decides the date when the festival of Diwali will be celebrated.

Give importance to livestock worship

Here, apart from the tradition of lighting lamps and making rangoli, importance is given to livestock worship on Diwali. The people of the tribal community of this village give great importance to the worship of livestock on the festival of Diwali, due to which the worship of livestock is done in which horses, dhavas and majali made of clay are bought by the tribal people from the potters.

During this tradition, regarding the worship of animals, at the time of first purchase, instead of tying the animal, it is worshiped by placing it in front of the cow, buffalo or bull. During this time animals are also decorated a lot. Dishes are prepared at home and offered to the family deities and favorite deities. During this period, the festival of Diwali is celebrated by singing and dancing with regional dances. Here, people of this region do not celebrate Diwali in 5-10 days but for two months.
