Congress MLA Umashankar alone joins Samajwadi Party, party had canceled ticket from Barhi

Ranchi: Samajwadi Party has become the destination of candidates who were denied tickets in Jharkhand assembly elections. Barhi MLA Umashankar Akela has joined Samajwadi Party. His name was not in the second Congress list that came on Thursday night. Congress has made Tileshwar Sahu's son Arun Sahu its candidate in place of Akela on Barhi seat.

Along with this, Congress has canceled the ticket of former minister Alamgir Alam on Pakur seat and has made Lal Suraj its candidate in place of his wife Nishat Alam and former MLA Bitt Singh on Panki seat. However, Bittu has filed nomination as an independent candidate from Panki.

Second list of Congress candidates arrived, RJD-Congress alliance broke, both parties fielded candidates from Vishrampur.
Earlier, former MLA Girinath Singh had joined Samajwadi Party after not getting ticket from RJD, while on Chhatarpur seat, Mamta Bhuiyan had also taken membership of Samajwadi Party after being denied ticket from RJD. Under the alliance, Garhwa seat has been given to JMM and Chhatarpur seat has been given to Congress.
