HYBE’s internal documents leaked; fans suspects negative tactics used against RIIZE and aespa
HYBE members took part in an audit with the National Assembly on October 24, 2024. As per Koreaboo, internal documents that featured comments about other companies’ groups in addition to HYBE’s own groups were made public during the audit.
This led to a chain of controversies in social media. One specific document revealed HYBE’s purported tactics for negative media plays against JYP Entertainment’s NMIXX and SM Entertainment groups like aespa and RIZZ. According to reports, the document detailed intentions to disparage Aespa’s live performance at Coachella, distribute vintage images of a member of RIIZE, and charge NMIXX with catering to feminists.
The latest controversy concerning former member Seunghan in particular caused a significant pushback against the purported ambitions for RIIZE. After a protracted break, Seunghan decided to depart the group in October 2024 due to the criticism surrounding his personal life and pre-debut images.
Sports Kyunghyang quoted: “They mentioned SM Entertainment’s group [redacted]writing “You can counteract any attacks made on [HYBE group, redacted] by using [SM Entertainment group, redacted] as a shield. When someone says that any member is ugly, it can be countered with the member [name redacted] pre-debut photos, or saying that [name redacted] cannot dance and is stiff, while showing clips of them. This is a pattern that is already well-used on DC Inside.”
Fans believe it is connected to RIIZE, specifically Seunghan, because of the frequency of syllables in the redacted names. When his previous images were made public, Sohee, another member, was also the target of these issues in addition to Seunghan’s pre-debut photos.
The specific group and members have not been verified because all names were removed from the initial report that was made public during the audit because of privacy concerns. Since then, HYBE has rejected the issue in a statement that has since been removed.
