Big blow to Madhu Koda from Supreme Court, will not be able to contest assembly elections

Ranchi: Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Madhu Koda has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The court, while hearing Koda's plea on Friday, rejected his plea seeking suspension of his conviction and sentence in the coal scam case.

Irfan Ansari called Sita Soren 'rejected material', will he apologize for the indecent language?
The petitioner cited the Supreme Court judgment in Afzal Ansari vs. State of Uttar Pradesh (2023), in which the conviction of BSP MLA Afzal Ansari was suspended. However, the bench described it as a separate matter and said that the case was of a sitting MLA. The bench said, “Many factors have to be taken into account for suspension of conviction; This is not a normal process. In Afzal's case, the appellant was a sitting MLA. This is not the situation here.”
