The ceremony highlighted BUV’s commitment to producing highly qualified professionals ready to contribute to the global labor market.

Remarkable growth in sstudent quality

BUV’s 500 new bachelor’s and master’s graduates come from 14 different programs. These include Finance, awarded by the University of London (UoL); Business Administration, International Business Administration, Marketing Management, Accounting and Finance, Finance and Economics, Computer Games Design and Programming, Contemporary Creative Practice, Computer Science (specializing in Cyber Security and Cloud Technologies), Event Management, and Tourism Management, all awarded by Staffordshire University; and International Hospitality Management, and Finance and Economics, awarded directly by BUV.

Earlier in April, BUV held the first graduation ceremony of the academic year, celebrating nearly 100 new graduates. As a result, the two ceremonies in 2024 have brought the total number of BUV graduates this year to nearly 600.

Notably, nearly 25% of BUV’s graduates received “First Class” honors, a testament to the institution’s rigorous assessments and regular supervision from its British degree-awarding partners.

Success across multiple milestones

Many graduates of the 2024 academic year participated in international exchange programs in multiple countries through BUV’s network of 50 partner universities across five continents. These programs provided invaluable global experiences and essential skills to prepare students as global citizens.

Approximately 20% of BUV graduates have received prestigious scholarships for postgraduate studies at renowned universities worldwide, including the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the University of Sydney, Monash University, the University of Auckland, the University of Exeter, and the University of Liverpool, among others in the U.K., the U.S., and Australia.

In addition to academic achievements, around 34% of students secured positions at leading national and international companies before graduation. Employers include multinational audit firms such as EY, PwC, and KPMG; corporations like Nestlé, P&G, and Masan; international hotel groups like Intercontinental and Accor; technology firms such as VNG, FPT, Momo, and VCCorp; and large conglomerates like Vingroup, Samsung, and HSBC. Moreover, a significant number of BUV graduates have successfully launched their own businesses in sectors such as F&B and healthcare.

Solid foundation for the future

British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, extended his best wishes to the new BUV bachelor’s and master’s graduates. Over the past decade, BUV has provided British programs and degrees of high quality to Vietnamese students. The ambassador expressed his hope that BUV graduates will always feel part of the large British alumni community in Vietnam.

In his congratulatory speech, Professor Michael Driscoll, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of BUV, assured the graduates that the institution equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome future challenges. He emphasized lifelong learning, flexibility, and the ability to seize opportunities for growth and innovation.

Professor Raymond Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV, noted that graduates enter the workforce with a distinct advantage: a British degree and international learning experiences at BUV.

“The value of a BUV degree is assured by three key aspects: proficiency in English, an internationally accredited degree from a British university, and the development of international and cross-cultural skills, along with resilient hearts and minds,” Professor Gordon stated.

Representing BUV’s partners, Professor Martin Jones, Vice-Chancellor of University of Staffordshire, affirmed that the new graduates join the global alumni community of both University of Staffordshire and BUV, making contributions to change the world.

“With the knowledge and skills gained in an internationally standardized educational environment, BUV graduates are set to help build a high-quality talent pool for Vietnam,” he added.

Embody the pride associated with the legacy of British education, BUV graduates are well-prepared, demonstrating resilience, lionhearted character and an innovative spirit. The new generation of BUV students is ready to make an impact not only in Vietnam but on the global stage.

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first university in Vietnam to achieve a 5-star rating from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and the first university in Vietnam and ASEAN to receive global quality accreditation from the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). These are two of the most prestigious accreditations for higher education quality in the world.

The university is committed to delivering authentic British education and purpose-based impact learning pedagogy. It aims to become the university of lionhearted, resilient individuals and solidify its position as the leading international university in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
