Priyanka Gandhi addressed the public after the road show before filing nomination for Wayanad by-election.

But this is the first time I am seeking your support,” Priyanka Gandhi said at a campaign rally in Wayanad. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi filed her nomination for the Wayanad by-election today (Wednesday). He joined the rally at 11.45 am before filing nomination papers. Priyanka was accompanied by her mother Sonia Gandhi, brother and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking at a public meeting after the rally, Brinka said, “When I was 17, I campaigned for my father (former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi) for the first time in 1989. It's been 35 years now. I have preached.” My mother, brother and fellow Congressmen are continuously participating in the elections. But I am campaigning for myself for the first time. I heartily thank Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for giving me this opportunity as the candidate from Wayanad and my family for supporting me. One candidate for Wayanad.

I saw the devastation here. I saw children who lost their families. I met mothers who lost their children. I met people who lost their entire lives. Everyone I met was helping others. They bravely offered emotional support without expectations. If you give me a chance, it would be my honor to be your representative.”

Earlier, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had contested from Wayanad in Kerala and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and won both, so there was a situation that he would have to leave one constituency. In this context, Rahul Gandhi became MP from Wayanad constituency on June 17 amid much anticipation. He resigned from the post. After this the block was declared vacant.

The Chief Election Commission of India has announced that by-elections for the Wayanad constituency will be held on 13 November. After this, Congress declared Priyanka as its candidate as expected. This is Priyanka Gandhi's entry into electoral politics. This is why Wayanad is again getting attention as a star constituency.
