Gong Yoo discloses the making of his globally loved cameo role in Squid Game

During a recent interview, Gong Yoo discussed his loved cameo in Squid Game. The actor disclosed that he was surprised by the role’s widespread popularity and that it began as a joke with the series’ director. Additionally, he discussed his role in the show’s second season.

The well-known South Korean actor Gong Yoo spoke about various facets of his work in an interview published by ELLE on October 25, 2024. In Squid Game he played a man who offered money to anyone who wanted to play ddakji while wearing a clean suit.

He disclosed that because he and director Hwang Dong Hyuk are personal friends, it started out as a lighthearted jest. At first, it didn’t seem like a very serious undertaking to him, and he hadn’t anticipated it to become so large.

Even if he still finds it a little strange, Gong Yoo’s involvement in that universe eventually grew. Additionally, he thought it was novel and thrilling to play a character in a way he had never done before.
