Challenges faced by Priyanka contesting from Wayanad constituency

Latest News :- Priyanka Vadera has entered the fray as the fourth leader of the Gandhi family in the southern state. Congress is facing many challenges in the Wayanad seat from where he is contesting. Indira Gandhi, considered the strongest Prime Minister of Congress, lost from Rae Bareli in UP due to the influence of MISA law. Thus he contested and won the Chikmagalur by-election in Karnataka in 1978.

Later, Sonia Gandhi also contested from Rae Bareli in Bellary constituency of Karnataka. She won both constituencies on the sympathy wave generated by the assassination of her husband Rajiv Gandhi. Third, Rahul Gandhi contested Wayanad as the second constituency after Amethi in 2019. As they suspected, Amethi lost and Wayanad won. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul contested from Rae Bareli and Wayanad and won both.

By-election: Wayanad MP faces by-election in the constituency as soon as he resigns from the post. Here Priyanka has entered the field. Priyanka is the fourth leader of the Gandhi family to enter the southern state. Congress faces many challenges due to Priyanka contesting elections from Wayanad. Rahul now has more influence than Priyanka had in the beginning. However, senior Kerala leader KC Venugopal is confident that Priyanka will get more votes than Rahul. For this, Congress will have to work hard.

This time, Rahul, who is contesting from Wayanad, did not say that he will contest from any other constituency. After the Wayanad elections were over, he suddenly filed his nomination in Rae Bareli. This was not a shock for the people of Wayanad. This is likely to impact the elections. If Priyanka wins, she will become the third MP from the Gandhi family after Sonia and Rahul. As a result, Congress will have to deal with BJP criticizing dynasticism.
