The Substance OTT Release: The upcoming horror satirical drama will begin streaming on 31st October on the platform Mubi. The film had its world premiere on 19th May 2024 at the Cannes Film Festival.
Plot
The story of the horror drama film follows the life of a 50 year old woman named Elisabeth who loses her fame and show due to her age and the makers of the show decide to bring some younger face to host the show.
Although Elisabeth is really popular among her audience, but her audience believes she is aging and the show must go on with someone else as bright and as lovely as Elisabeth.
However, this doesn’t go down well with Elisabeth and she gets furious and agigated and decides that she wants to look pretty, charming and young like the way she used to..
Meanwhile, she comes across a drug titled as ‘substance’ which is a serum and it helps generate a more younger and beautiful woman of version of oneself. She seems impressed from this serum
And orders one for herself. After receiving the serum, Elisabeth injects and becomes younger and attractive. However, the serum depicts a symbiotic relationship between the two bodies..
And the one who consumes it must transfer the consciousness within the bodies every 7 days without exception.The serum creates a youger version of Elisabeth called Sue who can step outside for a week.
This way Elisabeth and Sue trade off feeding each other.
Star Cast and Production
The film is written and directed by Coralie Fargeat and the cast features Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid in pivotal roles.
