Meet an actor who climbed the Bollywood ladder by playing little, frequently unmemorable parts. He lived in a small apartment with seven roommates and only got a break when he went to an audition with the promise of a meal of chowmein. After being written off as the ‘patla sa’ actor at first, he finally silenced his detractors with a ground-breaking performance that gave him opportunities. The actor has been in movies for twenty years and has received recognition for his compelling and funny parts. However, he was struggling in Mumbai and waited for his big break for nearly four years before succeeding. An actor friend of his persuaded him to accompany him to an audition in 2003, even offering him chowmein as a bribe. After acing the audition, the actor earned his first role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara.

Born in Uttarakhand on September 1, 1975, Deepak Dobriyal is among the most well-liked actors in Hindi cinema. His great comedic timing has always delighted audiences, and critics have been astounded by his powerful performances.

Deepak had a significant supporting part in Delhi-6, Gulaaland Shaurya in the ensuing years, but his portrayal as Pappi in Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and its 2015 follow-up Tanu Weds Manu Returns was what really made him a household name. He received a lot of praise for his comedy in both of the Kangana Ranaut-starring films. Additionally, the sequel was a huge commercial success. Salman Khan’s 2015 family drama Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and the late Irrfan Khan’s 2017 comic drama Hindi Medium were two of his other big hits. Last year, he portrayed an antagonist in Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa.

His wife, filmmaker Lara Bhalla, is as passionate about movies as he is. They reportedly fell in love, were married in 2009, and met on the set of Omkara. Together, they continue their journey in the film industry today with two kids, Siddharth and Leela.

He most recently starred in the criminal thriller Sector 36which was based on the Nithari killings, alongside Vikrant Massey. The movie, which is available to stream on Netflix, demonstrates his capacity to play challenging, nuanced parts, enhancing his standing as an actor who has overcome obstacles to become one of Bollywood’s best.
