New Delhi:- Diwali is just around the corner and Hindu families all over India are busy preparing for this festival. From cleaning their homes thoroughly to cooking delicious dishes and decorating their surroundings. Everyone is preparing to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, who is believed to bring prosperity, wealth and happiness. Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and good fortune, is revered not only by Hindus, but also by Buddhists and Jains.

Due to the excitement of Diwali and the many holidays ahead, it is the right time to visit some of the most revered and ancient temples dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, where devotees can seek her blessings.

Mahalaxmi Temple, Ratlam

During Diwali, the Mahalaxmi Temple located in Manak Chowk, Ratlam is decorated with cash and jewelery worth about Rs 200-300 crore. This decoration of notes worth crores will remain till Bhai Dooj. The cash and jewelery belong to the devotees of the temple. Which they take back on Bhai Dooj. It is believed that not a single rupee of the devotees ever went missing here. Devotees get their cash and jewelery back in Prasad. Like always, this year too devotees from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are reaching Mahalaxmi Temple to deposit their savings.

Mahalaxmi Temple, Mumbai

The 18th century Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the oldest and most famous temples in Mumbai and is located on Bhulabhai Desai Road and the Arabian Sea adding to the tranquility of the temple. The history of this temple built during the British rule is very interesting. The British rule made several attempts to connect Malabar Hill with Worli, but they were not successful. Legend has it that one night, the chief engineer, who was an Indian, had a dream of Goddess Lakshmi. Mother Lakshmi instructed him to take out three idols from the sea. The engineer found the idols and decided to build a temple to house them. It is believed that after building the temple, the British succeeded in connecting Malabar Hill with Worli, and Breach Candy came into existence.

Mahalaxmi Temple, Kolhapur

Located on the banks of the Panchganga River in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the eighteen Mahashakti Peethas. Famous for its antiquity and grand Hemadpanthi style architecture, this temple has five tall structures and a huge main hall, making it a revered place for devotees. Timings: 4:30 am – 11:00 pm.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple (Birla Temple), Delhi

Dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi Mata of prosperity and Lord Vishnu, Lakshmi Narayan Temple has immense historical importance. This temple was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi with the condition that people of all castes would be allowed to enter it. Located west of Connaught Place in Delhi, the beautiful architecture and Indian design of this temple makes it a must-see. Timings:- 4:30 am – 1:30 pm, reopens at 2:30 pm. Closes at 9:00 pm.

Kaila Devi Temple, Karauli, Rajasthan
Kaila Devi Temple, located in Kaila Devi village of Karauli district of Rajasthan, is dedicated to Goddess Kaileshwari Devi. Who is considered to be the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. The temple is known for its marble construction and spacious courtyard, which attracts devotees who believe that their wishes will be fulfilled. The annual Chaitra Utsav fair further enhances the fame of the temple. Timings:- 4:00 AM – 8:30 PM (Mataji Rest Time:- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)

Ashtalakshmi Temple, Chennai

Located on the beautiful banks of Besant Nagar in Chennai, the Ashtalakshmi Temple is dedicated to Mahalakshmi, the goddess of wealth and knowledge. The unique architecture of the temple is a blend of ancient Dravidian and contemporary styles. The design of the temple symbolizes the first Vedic mantra 'Om'. Timings:- 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Extended morning hours on weekends:- 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Sripuram Golden Temple, Vellore
