Death toll from Bengaluru building collapse rises to 5

Latest News :- The death toll in a newly constructed apartment building collapse due to heavy rains in Bengaluru has risen to 5. A newly constructed apartment building collapsed in Hennur area due to heavy rain yesterday (October 22) evening. 20 laborers working in the building were trapped in the debris. Immediately the fire department and police were informed and officials reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

10 people were rescued safely. One of them was hospitalized with serious injuries. Also, dead bodies of 5 people were recovered. The remaining rescue is going on. Officials say the investigation revealed that the foundation was weak leading to the accident.

CCTV footage of the seven-storey building collapse has gone viral on social media. It is being told that the building has been constructed illegally, whereas only 4 storey buildings are allowed in that area. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar personally visited the accident site last evening. He assured that strict action will be taken against the construction company and the contractor carrying out the construction work.
